Function of Glyoxylic Acid
Ethyl lanolin made from glyoxylic acid is widely used in fragrances and fixatives in cosmetics, flavors of daily chemicals, and flavoring of foods. Allantoin made from glyoxylic acid is used as a good healing agent for skin wounds, an additive for high-end cosmetics and a plant growth regulator. In medicine, glyoxylic acid is used to prepare p-hydroxyphenylglycine (raw material for amoxicillin and cephalosporin), and p-hydroxyphenylacetamide (used to manufacture effective substances for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and hypertension), and products such as p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid.
