Tacrolimus is a macrolide isolated from streptomycetes. It has strong immunosuppressive effect, can specifically bind and inhibit calmodulin phosphatase activity, inhibit il-2 signal transcription, and thus inhibit T cell activation, ChemicalbookTNF-α, il-1 β and il-6 production, and T cell-dependent B cell proliferation.Tacrolimus inhibited T cell activation more strongly and had fewer adverse reactions than cyclosporin, another calmodulin phosphatase inhibitor.
